How To Use

Home Skinovations is one of the leading developers of innovative home use aesthetics products.  As such, they have developed many products that have been providing exceptional results to consumers for many years.  (Other products from Home Skinovations include: Silk’n SensEpil, Silk’n Flash & Go, Silk’n Pro 20k, and the Silk’n SensEpil XL 65k).  Each of the products that the company has developed have been engineered to be extremely user-friendly.  Reviews show that the Silk’n FaceFX anti-aging device is no different. Before using the FaceFX LED for the first time, ensure that the device has been fully charged.  This can take between six and eight hours.  Users of the FaceFX should then wash and dry their face, making sure to remove any and all powders, gels, or creams on the skin. 1)      Remove the applicator from the base unit. 2)      Press the Power switch, and wait for the Ready Indicator light to stop blinking.  When the light steadily glows, the device is ready to use. 3)      Place the applicator on the desired part of the face to be treated.  The LED lights of the device will activate automatically as long as firm contact is made with the skin. 4)      Apply the treatment surface of the applicator wand on the skin, moving the wand slowly over the treatment area in small circles. 5)      Perform this pattern on the treatment area for five to seven minutes. 6)      When treatment is complete, turn the device off by pressing the Power switch. 7)      Clean the applicator tip, and place the applicator into its base unit to recharge for the next treatment.  A proper cleaning of the applicator will help ensure that the device is prepared for the next treatment, and no residue is allowed to accumulate, which could hinder treatment effects. 8)      Apply a moisturizing cream on the treated area after the session. Note: If gliding the applicator wand across the skin is difficult because of skin dryness, a product called Silk’n Serum will help the device glide more smoothly.  Also, included below is an informative video about the Silk’n FaceFX LED Anti-Aging Device. top of page

Duration of Treatment

The Silk’n FaceFX treatment protocol is very simple to follow, and typically can be performed in most people’s spare time.  A general treatment session on most parts of the face will take users between fifteen and 20 minutes. Treatment Protocol for the FaceFX: For the first four weeks, Silk’n recommends that users treat their skin three times per week, for about fifteen to 20 minutes each time.  After the first month, a one time per week treatment regimen can be performed for maintenance. After eight weeks of treatment, users of the FaceFX noticed a 91% improvement in their skin’s texture, a 69% reduction of lines and wrinkles, a 47% fade in the appearance of spots on their skin, and a 78% reduction in pore size on their skin. top of page

Parts of the Body That Can Be Treated

The Silk’n FaceFX is obviously designed for safe use on the safe.  As such, it has been designed to be used on skin around the eyes, including under the eyes, and on crow’s feet.   However, users should ensure that their eyes are closed when treating these areas.  The FaceFX can also be used on the forehead, on the cheeks, and around the mouth and neck.  Caution should be utilized when treating over areas with little subcutaneous fat (jaw-line, chin, forehead), as these areas tend to become heated more quickly than areas with more subcutaneous fat.

Safety Features

The FaceFX uses technology that has been FDA-cleared and proven safe for use.  Because of this, there is little need for numerous safety features.  However, the distribution of the LED technology into twenty-four separate LEDs helps distribute a given amount of energy over a larger area of the face.  This helps keep negative side effects to a minimum when using the device. top of page

Side Effects

As mentioned in the previous section, the distribution of the FaceFX’s energy into twenty-four separate LEDs, the device’s safety is enhanced, and it is much less likely to cause users any adverse skin effects.  However, there are a few sensations that most users experience during a standard FaceFX treatment. Most users experience a gentle heating sensation over the treatment area.  If the skin being treated starts to get too hot, users are encouraged to pause treatment to wait for the skin to cool.  Slight redness over the treatment area is completely normal, and should fade within the matter of a few minutes, or up to a few hours.  Some skin irritation is common when using the FaceFX, but for the most part this is very short-lived.  If this skin irritation persists for more than three days, users are encouraged to see their doctor. top of page

Post-Treatment Recommendations

Applying a moisturizing cream to the part of the face that was treated will help eliminate the dry sensation of the skin that many users experience.  Silk’n and Home Skinovations recommend using a moisturizing lotion with SPF to help further protect the skin from the harmful effects of the sun.  Makeup can be applied to the skin immediately after a treatment. top of page

Technology

The Silk’n FaceFX uses a combination of different FDA-cleared technology to provide users with healthier, younger looking skin in the matter of just a couple of months.  The primary technology utilized in the device is called Home Fractional (HF) Technology.  This is a combination of red light and deep thermal heating to increase the production of collagen in the skin.  Increasing the collagen production of the skin is designed to improve the skin’s texture and the tone of the skin while reducing wrinkles, fine lines, and pore size. The Dermal Heat technology utilized in the FaceFX device is designed to contribute to skin tightening by distributing energy deep into the skin in the treatment area.  This thermal energy heats the collagen in the skin, and leads to dermal regeneration.  This means that new skin cells will replace older ones more rapidly.  This decreased turnover of skin cells is one thing that can contribute to many of the signs of aging. Deep Fractional Light technology is the process of using high powered red LEDs to stimulate fibroblast growth in the skin.  Fibroblasts are cells that will eventually become collagen.  By enhancing their growth, users can enhance the amount of collagen in their skin.  The Fractional Light aspect of this device comes from the fact that the energy of the device is distributed into twenty-four separate LEDs in the applicator wand.  This allows a higher amount of energy to penetrate deeper into the skin without an increase in skin irritation, which is more common when utilizing non-dispersed laser light. The Silk’n FaceFX technology has been clinically proven to be safe to help users decrease the majority of the major signs of aging. To summarize: the utilization of a combination of technology allows the FaceFX to address the top layers of skin to reduce the issues of fine lines, wrinkles, and pore size (leading to increased skin texture), while also addressing the lower layers of skin to treat deep wrinkles, and skin discolorations. top of page
